Abstraction is a subject where there are no rules and you can use all of your imagination to compose a piece of art that stands out from the ordinary by experimenting with the formal elements. You can change how vibrant or sharp a shape is or change the different textures and mess about with different tones and colours.
Colin Knowles is the artist who took this abstract photo, its called Skytrain. I think that the photographer has taken the photograph from a moving train because there is movement on the wall and there is motion blur when the motion is shown as blurred lines. My eyes are drawn to the direction of the tunnel, I think this is because the many lines create a pathway to the front of the tunnel. The light on the top is blurred and becomes softer but still lights up the tunnel. The colour is limited to a selection of greys, which and blues, these colours set a tone of grey and blues which creates a sad atmosphere. I think that this photo is abstract as what a see is a variety of shapes and lines. The texture of the walls is smooth due to the blur of the lights which smoothens the texture making it look flat.
1.How was it to take images this way?:It was a fun task to do, it tested my skills and I have tried to make unique and interesting photos.
2.what did you do differently:I have changed the way a look at a possible photos try to compose before I create.
3.What was the end result:My end results where successful I composed a picture with a quirky sense of meaning.
4.Hilighting an image that has been successful and write why:This image I really like, it has a focus on one object which is the sticker and then there are suttle drops of rain which really add to the picture.
5.Which of the formal elements have you captured:Colour, tone, texture, light.
6.Why is the photo that you have taken abstract:I think that the photo is abstract due to its Unique characteristics like the sharpens and lighting.
7.What do you think of the photographs:I think they are mostly nice and are classified as a abstract picture.

Patrick Lear's
This picture features all the key formal elements,e.g. shape, light, texture, coulour and pattern. The picture has an interesting composition which makes you really think about the picture and what meaning it has.Patrick Lear's uses black as the contrast for the picture which gives focus on the two black objects in the middle. The two black shapes in the middle of the picture look at first glance to be a mask of some sort but then if you have a closer look its really hard to figure out what the object is.
This is written by Patrick Lear's about how he started his work and why he makes his art.
I worked for a while as a photographer. Some years into this I noticed a surplus of black and white prints that was accumulating - especially prints that had been dodgily exposed or developed. I was reluctant to throw them out. In time I started to cut them up - finding the essential in the sum of disparate parts by conjuring a new work.
This usually takes the form of collage or assemblage though sometimes it is a gesture that is only formalised in a photograph. More recent work with clay and sculpture takes a similar approach - chance plays a significant role.

How is the composition?:I made the collages composition to be a shape with more shapes to create a Shape I like how it turned out with the cricles creating a interesting pattern with creates a busy atmosphere.
Formal elements |
The Formal Elements are the parts used to make a piece of artwork. The art elements are line, shape, form, tone, texture, pattern, colour and composition. They are often used together, and how they are organised in a piece of art determines what the finished piece will look like.
